Our approach is grounded in a clear vision and mission, and guided by evidence-based strategies and personalized support. At every step, we emphasize connection, recognizing that the journey is most sustainable within a strong recovery ecosystem.

Seed Sower Mission

Seed Sower provides safe, supportive housing, comprehensive recovery services, and transportation to empower adults in active recovery from substance use disorders (SUD).

Measure. Plan. Engage.

Upon admission, residents complete a Recovery Capital (REC CAP) assessment, measuring recovery barriers, unmet needs, and strengths across seven sub-domains. Focusing on an individual's strengths instead of deficits, we transition to an evidence-based model rooted in community, connection, and the social contagion of hope. This helps our navigators support each person in setting and achieving meaningful recovery goals over time.

Our SUD abatement strategies, programs, and areas of focus form the foundation of our approach.

Housing and Transportation

We provide safe, supportive, and supervised housing, along with reliable transportation for all residents through Seed Sower Transport.

Recovery Management

From graduation to long-term goals, we help residents navigate their recovery pathways using the Recovery Capital Growth Model (RCGM), an asset-based framework that uses personal, social, and community resources to support an individual's growth in recovery.

Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS)

We have peer recovery support specialists on site 24-hours a day, 7 days per week to assist our residents in their journey and to act as REC CAP navigators.

Training and Employment Support

We help subsidize the cost of career development and training programs for all residents. Upon admission, our residents are simultaneously enrolled in the Fruits of Labor Inc. Culinary and Agricultural Training Program – an American Culinary Federation certified “Quality Program." It is the only one of its kind in WV.

Recovery Ecosystem Development

We actively engage community organizations, local governments, faith-based groups, private businesses, and individuals to promote recovery ecosystems. These are collaborative networks that support adults in recovery and work to reduce the damaging effects of stigma surrounding substance use disorder.

Evaluation and Outcome Reporting

Recovery residences are often overlooked in the continuum of care, despite strong evidence of their role in supporting long-term remission. In partnership with The Fletcher Group and the Recovery Outcomes Institute, Seed Sower collects and analyzes data across multiple domains to evaluate the impact of our residential services. Our goal is to demonstrate that rural recovery residences are not only effective, but can serve as best practice models. This is done through the ongoing use of standardized questionnaires to assess short-, mid-, and long-term outcomes.

We promote the development of recovery ecosystems that integrate multiple partners in regional recovery networks that employ a holistic approach to both individual and community recovery efforts. When these essential, multi-faceted services work in tandem, outcomes improve.

We actively engage to reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorder, and believe that seeing the humanity and heart in our neighbors who struggle with substance use/misuse is the key to coming alongside them as they recover.
