National Prescription Drug Take Back Day​
The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) is encouraging West Virginians to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by safely disposing of unused or expired medications at collection sites across the state. Details at WVFF website

Flex Your Coalition and Community Prevention Capacity​
Strong coalitions are a cornerstone of effective community substance use prevention. This 90-minute webinar focuses on how coalitions can move beyond simply convening partners to intentionally building the relationships, structures, and capacities needed to support meaningful prevention work. We will review how prevention science and the public health approach can strengthen coalition efforts, helping participants better understand local needs, select appropriate strategies, and support implementation and sustainability over time, to achieve measurable impact. Healing Appalachia Festival​
Staging at Ashland, Kentucky's Boyd County Fairgrounds, the seventh-annual Healing Appalachia will expand the benefit festival to three days after embracing its massive yearly acclaim with a shift to a larger venue last year. The full artist lineup for the festival, which unites giants of country, folk, roots rock, Americana and more in service of recovery and harm reduction for communities facing opioid addiction, has yet to be unveiled. Recovery Day at the WV Capitol​
We know that recovery doesn’t end with housing, transportation, or peer support. Recovery also requires advocacy, with strong, informed voices helping shape policies and systems. That’s why we were excited to attend Recovery Advocacy Day at the West Virginia State Capitol in March of 2026, which saw the largest turnout in 12 years. Stay tuned for the 2027 date and plan to mark your calendar!
